Lafayette, IN: Housing Project for Elderly Benefits from Pre-Construction Radon Mitigation
The HUD-sponsored housing complex for elderly residents and mobility-impaired residents in Lafayette, Indiana planned proactively for passive radon mitigation systems. Vapor Intrusion Solutions architected five independent systems consisting of piping laid out in a grid and connected to an exhaust pipe to release vapors safely away from the residences. This whole piping system is covered with a protective layer of a vapor barrier. These were planned to be passive systems without a fan to change pressure, but VIS and the client determined that they would test again for radon after construction activities on the new housing complex was complete and to determine the need for converting to an active system.
Vapor Intrusion Specialists was happy to be part of the proactive radon mitigation planning and implementation in this new construction, Lafayette-based affordable housing project for the residents over 62 years old.
