Grand Haven, MI: Successful Vapor Intrusion Mitigation for Large Commercial Building
This gorgeous older brick building needed a vapor intrusion solution, so Vapor Intrusion Specialists was contracted by the primary environmental remediation firm to architect a system for this building’s needs. This plan included three sub-slab depressurization systems (SSDS) with 18 extraction points that were strategically located within the slab on-grade portion of the structure.
This project included coring of the concrete slab foundation to create engineered sumps and weaving the pipe venting system throughout. The mitigation fans required a crane to place on the roof, and licensed roofers were brought in to seal around the fans. The alarm system and magnehelic gauges allow for ongoing monitoring of pressure levels and alerts if the system power was ever disrupted. The piping system required some careful navigation of tight areas to install, but we were very proud of the end result.
